Do I have to take an entrance exam?

If a candidate comes from a country outside the EU/EFTA/OECD and does not hold documents recognized in Poland (e.g., a Polish Matura certificate, a diploma from a Polish university, IB or EB diplomas, or Matura certificates or diplomas issued in countries covered by mutual recognition agreements), they are obliged to take a substantive exam conducted by the university.

What does the Pole’s Card (Karta Polaka) provide?

The Pole’s Card (with a valid expiration date!) exempts a foreigner from full-time tuition fees, but does not exempt them from the obligation to submit a document confirming proficiency in the Polish language at a level no lower than B2.

Do I need to submit a certificate/diploma with an apostille?

Yes, if you hold a foreign certificate/diploma, it must bear an apostille. If the certificate/diploma was issued in a country that is not a party to the Hague Convention, it must be legalized. Details in the section: Foreign Certificates and Diplomas.

Where can I upload documents to the admission system if I apply as an international candidate?

To upload Matura results, please go to the “Application status” (Stan postępowania) tab. At the very bottom of the page, there is a “Command” (Polecenie) button – after clicking it, select the second option from the top: “Upload documents” (Prześlij dokumenty). Here you will be able to add scans of the required documents.

Which documents confirming language proficiency are recognized by the University?

The documents are regulated by the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of July 30, 2025, on the types of documents certifying proficiency in the language in which studies are conducted (Journal of Laws, item 1045).

What if I acquire UKR status or the Pole’s Card during my studies?

If, during their studies, a citizen of Ukraine obtains, for example, a C1 certificate or acquires the right to study free of charge through other means, they submit an application to the Rector at the Dean’s Office of the relevant Faculty to change the method of financing their studies.

Do I need another document besides the apostille/legalization to confirm the reliability of my certificate/diploma?

If the candidate does not have recognized documents (IB/EB, Matura from countries with mutual recognition agreements, etc.), they must attach a written confirmation from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) stating that their document entitles them to undertake higher education in the country of its issue and can be the basis for participation in the admission process in Poland. This requirement applies from July 1, 2025. If the aforementioned Matura certificate was recognized by the Education Superintendent (Kuratorium Oświaty) via an administrative decision prior to July 1, 2025, it will also be recognized in our admission process.

Do I have to translate foreign documents?

Yes, all documents in a language other than Polish must be translated by a sworn translator. The translation of documents into Polish may be done by an entity authorized to officially make translations in Poland or in the candidate’s country of origin.

Can I apply if I am underage?

Underage candidates who remain minors until the day their studies begin cannot undertake studies in the following programs: Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Emergency Medical Services. Additionally, during admission, the consent of parents/legal guardians is required for an underage person to undertake studies at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, with notarized signatures, or a signature certified by a Polish diplomatic and consular post, or a certified signature by a person authorized to officially certify signatures in the foreigner’s country of origin, along with a translation into Polish (a template is available on the website), or with signatures submitted in the presence of a member of the relevant admission committee at the University.
